Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The Certificate in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills to proactively manage workplace hazards. The course covers types of hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial), methods of hazard identification (inspections, checklists, observation, worker input), and structured risk assessment techniques such as qualitative, semi-quantitative, and quantitative approaches.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA): Definition and objectives of HIRA, Importance of HIRA in proactive safety management, Legal and regulatory requirements (OSHA, ISO 45001, IS 14489), Key terms: hazard, risk, incident, accident, risk assessment, Role and responsibilities of a HIRA Specialist, Integration of HIRA into organizational safety systems.

Module 2: Types of Hazards and Their Classifications: Physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, psychosocial, and mechanical hazards, Workplace-specific hazard identification (manufacturing, construction, laboratories, etc.), Acute vs. chronic hazards and their implications, Sources of hazard information: MSDS, past incidents, inspections, Hazard recognition techniques (walkthroughs, checklists, worker inputs), Hazard categorization based on severity and exposure.

Module 3: Risk Assessment Methodologies and Tools: Stages of risk assessment: hazard identification, risk evaluation, control, and review, Risk assessment matrices: likelihood vs. severity, Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment techniques, Tools and models: HAZOP, FMEA, JSA, What-if analysis, Criteria for assessing tolerable and unacceptable risk levels, Limitations and challenges in risk assessment practices.

Module 4: Control Measures and Risk Mitigation Strategies: Hierarchy of controls: elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE, Designing practical and effective control measures, Implementing control strategies and monitoring effectiveness, Emergency preparedness and mitigation planning, Evaluating control residual risks and cost-benefit analysis, Case studies of successful risk reduction interventions.

Module 5: HIRA Documentation, Reporting, and Communication: Creating structured HIRA reports and risk registers, Recording hazard analysis findings and control actions, Communicating risks and controls to employees and management, Conducting pre-job briefings and toolbox talks based on HIRA, Use of digital tools and templates for documentation, Ensuring data confidentiality, traceability, and regulatory compliance.

Module 6: Review, Audit, and Continuous Improvement of HIRA: Periodic review of HIRA in response to changes in process, equipment, or incidents, Conducting audits to verify effectiveness of risk control measures, Learning from incidents, near misses, and lessons learned, Stakeholder engagement and continuous feedback in HIRA improvement, Linking HIRA with safety performance indicators (KPIs), Promoting a risk-aware culture through training and awareness programs.
