Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent.

Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The Certificate in Tunnelling Technology course is designed to provide specialized knowledge and technical skills required for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of tunnels and underground structures. The course covers key topics such as geotechnical investigations, tunneling methods (e.g., TBM, NATM, cut-and-cover), structural design, ground support systems, waterproofing, and ventilation.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Tunneling Engineering: Introduction to Tunneling and Underground Structures, History and Applications of Tunneling, Geological and Geotechnical Considerations, Tunnel Alignment Planning and Surveying, Classification of Tunnels (Railway, Highway, Utility), Codes and Standards in Tunneling.

Module 2: Tunnel Design and Analysis: Design Criteria and Load Considerations, Rock and Soil Tunnel Design Methods, Lining Design and Support Systems, Numerical Modeling and Finite Element Analysis, Waterproofing and Drainage Design, Structural Behavior of Tunnel Linings.

Module 3: Tunneling Methods and Equipment: Conventional (Drill and Blast) Tunneling Method, Mechanized Tunneling (TBM, Shield), NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method), Microtunneling and Pipe Jacking, Excavation and Muck Disposal Techniques, Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Components and Operations.

Module 4: Ground Behavior and Support Systems: Ground Classification and Behavior During Excavation, Ground Improvement Techniques (Grouting, Freezing), Temporary and Permanent Support Systems, Shotcrete Applications and Quality Control, Instrumentation and Monitoring, Settlement Control and Mitigation Measures.

Module 5: Tunnel Construction and Safety Management: Tunnel Construction Planning and Sequencing, Risk Assessment and Hazard Management, Health and Safety Protocols, Ventilation and Lighting Systems in Tunnels, Emergency Response and Fire Safety, Quality Assurance and Construction Supervision.

Module 6: Advanced Topics and Case Studies: Urban Tunneling Challenges and Solutions, Waterproofing and Long-Term Maintenance, Sustainability in Tunnel Engineering, Legal and Environmental Considerations, Innovations in Tunneling Technologies, International Case Studies and Lessons Learned.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
