Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/C/CC/V1

Duration: One Month.

Eligibility: 10th Grade (High School) or Equivalent is required.

Objective: The objective of the Certified Carpenter course is to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks in construction, furniture making, and interior works. The course is designed to develop proficiency in working with wood and other materials to construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Carpentry: Role and duties of a carpenter, Types of carpentry (rough, finish, furniture), Wood types and their properties, Introduction to carpentry tools and machinery, Reading and interpreting carpentry drawings, Safety measures and use of PPE.

Module 2: Carpentry Tools and Materials: Hand tools (saws, chisels, hammers), Measuring and marking tools (tape, square, level), Power tools (drills, sanders, routers), Types of wood, plywood, and engineered boards, Fasteners (nails, screws, adhesives), Maintenance and care of tools.

Module 3: Joinery and Assembly Techniques: Types of wood joints (butt, lap, mortise and tenon), Techniques for accurate measurement and cutting, Use of clamps and vices, Gluing and mechanical fastening, Frame assembly and squaring, Common mistakes and how to fix them.

Module 4: Furniture and Fixture Construction: Measuring and designing furniture, Cutting, shaping, and assembling parts, Making doors, windows, cabinets, and shelves, Finishing surfaces (sanding, polishing, painting), Hardware installation (hinges, locks, handles), Repair and maintenance of wooden furniture.

Module 5: Site Carpentry and Fittings: Setting out and layout planning, Installing doors, windows, and partitions, Roofing frames and shuttering basics, Flooring and paneling work, Working with drywall and false ceilings, Basic scaffolding and ladder safety.

Module 6: Carpentry Standards and Safety: Wood treatment and preservation techniques, Quality control in carpentry work, Ergonomics and safe lifting practices, Fire safety and emergency handling, Green carpentry and sustainable practices, Documentation and client communication basics.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
