Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The Certificate in Geriatric Fitness and Active Ageing Practices course is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively design and deliver fitness programs tailored for older adults. The course covers age-related physiological changes, functional fitness assessments, balance and mobility training, strength and endurance exercises, fall prevention, flexibility, cardiovascular health, and safe exercise adaptations.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card (Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Module 1: Introduction to Geriatric Fitness: Overview of Geriatric Fitness, Role of a Geriatric Fitness Specialist, Key Terminology and Concepts, Importance of Fitness in Older Adults, Common Health Challenges in Aging, Safety and Ethical Considerations

Module 2: Anatomy, Physiology, and Aging: Musculoskeletal Changes in Aging, Cardiovascular and Respiratory System Adaptations, Neuromuscular Function in Older Adults, Bone Health and Osteoporosis Prevention, Impact of Aging on Balance and Flexibility, Application of Physiology to Exercise Programming

Module 3: Fitness Assessment for Older Adults: Conducting Senior Fitness Assessments, Mobility and Balance Testing, Strength and Endurance Evaluation, Flexibility and Range of Motion Analysis, Risk Factor Identification, Interpreting Assessment Results for Program Design

Module 4: Exercise Programming and Techniques: Designing Safe and Effective Exercise Programs, Cardiovascular and Aerobic Training, Strength and Resistance Training for Seniors, Balance and Fall Prevention Exercises, Flexibility and Functional Movement Training, Progress Monitoring and Program Adaptation

Module 5: Nutrition, Lifestyle, and Wellness: Nutrition and Hydration for Older Adults, Weight Management Strategies, Mental and Cognitive Health Promotion, Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques, Lifestyle Modification for Healthy Aging, Integrating Wellness into Fitness Programs

Module 6: Professional Practice and Client Management: Communication and Motivation Techniques, Ethical and Professional Standards, Client Progress Evaluation and Feedback, Safety and Emergency Procedures, Collaboration with Healthcare Providers, Career Development and Continuing Education

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
