Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The Certificate in Biomedical Waste Management and Safety Practices course is designed to train professionals in the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of biomedical waste in healthcare and laboratory settings. The course covers comprehensive topics including types and categorization of biomedical waste, segregation protocols, color-coded disposal systems, transportation, storage, treatment, and final disposal as per national and international regulations (such as BMW Rules, 2016).

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Biomedical Waste Management: Definition and classification of biomedical waste, Sources and types of biomedical waste in healthcare settings, Importance and objectives of proper waste management, Roles and responsibilities of a waste management specialist, Health and environmental hazards of improper disposal, Overview of national and international regulations.

Module 2: Waste Segregation, Collection and Storage: Segregation of biomedical waste at the point of generation, Color coding and labeling of containers as per rules, Safe collection practices and use of protective gear, Temporary storage protocols within healthcare facilities, Handling of sharps and infectious materials, Minimizing waste generation through efficient practices.

Module 3: Transportation and Treatment Methods: Internal transport of waste within healthcare facilities, External transportation guidelines and vehicle standards, On-site and off-site treatment options (autoclaving, incineration, etc.), Chemical disinfection, shredding, and microwaving methods, Final disposal techniques (landfilling, deep burial), Monitoring emissions and treatment effectiveness.

Module 4: Legal Framework and Regulatory Compliance: Biomedical Waste Management Rules 2016 and amendments, CPCB and SPCB guidelines for healthcare facilities, Documentation, record-keeping, and annual reporting, Licenses, permits, and authorization requirements, Penalties and legal consequences for non-compliance, Role of audits and inspections in compliance enforcement.

Module 5: Safety, Health Hazards and Emergency Response: Occupational risks for healthcare and sanitation workers, Use of PPE and safety protocols during waste handling, First aid and emergency procedures for accidental exposure, Immunization and health monitoring of waste handlers, Spill management and decontamination procedures, Fire safety and hazardous material response.

Module 6: Training, Awareness and Sustainable Practices: Designing and conducting staff training programs, Promoting awareness among healthcare workers and the public, Integration of sustainable and eco-friendly waste practices, Waste minimization, recycling and green alternatives, Community participation and stakeholder engagement, Continuous monitoring and improvement of waste systems.

• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
